Parent Survey

We are currently looking at ways to improve how we communicate with you as parents and caregivers. What you have to say is really important to us and we want you to know that we are listening. To support these efforts, we would appreciate your thoughts on what you and your family value about the College so that everyone can understand the importance of a Strathalbyn Christian College education.

The link for the survey has been emailed to families today.

Please provide your feedback by Friday 29th May.

Pre-Primary Animal Habitats

Over the last few weeks the Pre-Primary children have been learning about Australian animals of their choice.

They have completed “inquiry based learning” which included building habitats and making posters, along with researching all about these animals through using the internet and library books.

Here are some wonderful photos of the end product!  The Pre-Primary children are so proud of what they have done and can tell you all about the Australian animals we looked at.

Covid-19 – The Transition Back

Although the reality of the Coronavirus is ongoing, we are all experiencing various levels of transition across Australia. Whilst many children may be excited at the prospect of lockdown restrictions being lifted, others may feel mixed emotions.

As we adjust to new routines, keeping a check on our young people’s mental health and wellbeing will be vitally important. This Special Report from SchoolTV shares a few ideas to help ease this time of transition and adjustment.

Secondary Assistance Scheme, Extension Update

The Secondary Assistance Scheme is available to parents/guardians with children enrolled in secondary schooling who hold an eligible concession card.  The Secondary Assistance Scheme comprises of an Education Program Allowance which is paid to the school and a Clothing Allowance that is paid to the parent.

Given the current environment related to COVID-19, the Department of Education is seeking ways to support schools, parents and guardians through this period.  They have therefore extended the deadline to the end of Term 2, 2020 with a new closure date of Friday, 3 July 2020.  As such, the current concession card eligibility is also extended until 3 July 2020 (previously the concession card had to be eligible in Term 1).

Application Forms can be requested from the Front Office at the College. Completed SAS application forms should be sent via post to: Student Allowances, Financial Planning and Resourcing, Department of Education, 151 Royal Street, East Perth, WA 6004

Further information about the scheme can be found here: https://concessions.communities.wa.gov.au/Concessions/Pages/Secondary-Assistance-Scheme.aspx
