Week 1 Term 4

Posted by Fiona Davidson

Welcome back to the final Term of 2020

It’s been a busy first week back with Year 12 ATAR students sitting mock exams. The Year 12 Final Assembly will be held in the Amphitheatre next Thursday at 1.15pm, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the end of the students’ schooling life at the College. Friday they have a Retreat, then Graduation and Valedictory Dinner on Saturday.

We are very pleased to welcome new staff member Mr Gavin Box as our new Administration Officer. Gavin has a background in journalism and will be a wonderful addition to the Admin Team, taking over parent communications from Mrs Fiona Davidson. He will also be giving admin support to Deputy Principals Mrs Sophia de Lange and Mr Steve Fletcher.

Mrs Sandy Martin will commence as Student Services Officer at the beginning of November, as Mrs Janet Wells retires after 13 years at the College. Sandy has a wealth of experience, having worked in administrative and support worker roles. We are looking forward to her joining the team.

We are taking many enquiries for enrolments for 2021 at the moment which is wonderful. If you know people who are considering Strath as an option, please encourage them to get in touch with us as soon as possible to secure places for their children for next year.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the Parent Satisfaction Survey last term, we had almost double the number of usual respondents. There was marked improvement across all areas of the College from the community perspective with a large majority keen on the idea of one uniform so we will be continue to explore this further and will report back over the next few weeks.

~ Mr Gavin Hirschhausen, Principal

Primary Music Showcase

Please come along next Wednesday morning to hear the Primary students (Years 1-6) perform and showcase what they have been learning in Music this year.

2019 Year Book

With this crazy Covid-19 year, the 2019 Year Book was unfortunately a long time in the proofing/editing phase. The Books have now been ordered and should be here late October/early November. We do apologise for the delay. The 2020 Year Book should hopefully be available by the end of Term 1 2021.

Bandanna Day

The College will be supporting Bandanna Day again in 2020 to support CanTeen. Bandannas will be for sale for $5 each from Student Services, and students may wear Bandannas on Friday 30 October. Please don’t leave it to the last minute to purchase your Bandannas.
